She has just turned 100, but bingo caller Cecily Gaunson still calls bingo at her local hall three times a week. Born on New Year’s Day 1910, this vibrant centenarian is active and healthy, proving that longevity is possible with the right habits and mindset. Cecily is a regular feature at her club in New South Wales, and loves to entertain the crowd with jokes in between calls. It is this bubbly personality and constant positive attitude that have seen her through a number of trying times, including the death of her husband from radiation sickness, after serving in Maralinga during nuclear testing in the 1950s.

Cecily has managed to outlive her sister and many peers, and she thinks that this is due to the fact that she has never smoked. This and staying active, not to mention staying mentally active with bingo for the past four decades, this could well be the secret to reaching a fine age of 100 years. She had some stellar advice for those wanting to reach the triple figures, "Just keep active and keep doing whatever you do. Don't sit home and mope," she said.
