A bingo player from Eastfield recently celebrated her 102nd birthday, proving yet again that bingo really does keep one young. Nellie Horseman (known as ‘Eastfield’s celebrity’) celebrated with a party at the community hall. Friends and locals, including a number of school children who brought hand-made cards for the popular centenarian, all came to wish her well and celebrate the special day with her. Proudfoot’s Supermarket presented her with a lovely bouquet of flowers for the occasion, and residents from all over the town came to wish her well.

June Tordoff, who has been friends with Nellie for the past 52 years said, "We all think it is fantastic that she has made it to 102. She is still doing well," adding that Nellie has refused to go into a nursing home and is quite happy and able to live on her own instead. Nellie heads out to her local hall to enjoy a few games of bingo once a week, and is said to be a huge fan of the game. Another bingo fan in New South Whales recently celebrated her 100th birthday on New Year’s Day, indicating that bingo games may be the key to a long life.
